Robert Nelsen brings his vast experience in high-stakes civil litigation to all his clients at Herrig, Vogt & Hensley. Mr. Nelsen’s familiarity with complicated cases from case intake through settlement, trial, and/or appeal has given him the skills necessary to quickly assess a case and develop a strategy that is both aggressive and efficient to achieve the best result possible for his clients.

Mr. Nelsen is consistently recognized by his peers for this work, resulting in him being named on the “Top Lawyers” list in Sacramento Magazine, “Super Lawyer” and “Rising Star” in Super Lawyer Magazine, “Lincoln Legal Leader” by his law school, among others. Coming from a family of educators, Mr. Nelsen prides himself on his communication with clients to help them understand not just what is happening in their case, but also why.

He graduated from Sacramento State University in 2007 with a degree in Social Sciences. He then attended Lincoln Law School in the evenings so while an intern during the day at Dreyer, Babich, Buccola, Wood and Campora, LLP, where he was mentored by some of the most respected civil litigators in Northern California. In his final year of law school, Robert was able to participate in a mentorship program with Justice Laurie Earl, now of the Third District Court of Appeals.

Community service is an important priority for Mr. Nelsen. He currently sits on the Sacramento Bar Association’s Judicial Committee, where he works with a small team to screen potential judicial candidates. He is also the Parliamentarian and Executive Board Member of the Capitol City Trial Lawyers Association, with a membership of over 400 local lawyers. Lastly, Robert remains actively involved with his alma mater, serving on its Alumni Association and Scholarship Committees. Through this work, he enjoys supporting and mentoring the next generation of lawyers and helping students pursue careers in the legal profession.

Outside of the office, Robert enjoys attending Sacramento Republic FC matches with his son, and he serves on his son’s school PTA. He is also a musician and enjoys getting out to see live music.
